US President Donald Trump has predicted a sharp decline in oil and gasoline prices once the United States wins its ongoing conflict with Iran. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said prices would fall “precipitously” after the war, suggesting that petrol could first drop to around $3 per gallon and eventually fall below $2 per gallon.

Trump said the price drop would happen quickly and linked the expected decline to what he described as a US victory over Iran. He also reiterated his position that Iran would not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.
His remarks come as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to affect global energy markets. Oil prices have recently moved sharply higher amid concerns over disruptions to supplies and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, with Brent crude trading close to $100 a barrel.
Trump’s prediction also comes as US fuel prices remain elevated, making his promise of gasoline below $2 a gallon a significant claim for American consumers. The impact of the Iran conflict on global oil supplies and the eventual outcome of the fighting will play a major role in determining future energy prices.
