1.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you leave a comment on an article, we collect the name, email address, and (optionally) website URL you submit with your comment, along with the comment content itself. Your IP address and browser user agent string are also collected automatically to help us detect spam and abuse. If you choose “Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment,” this information is stored in a cookie on your device.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, Trenzif automatically collects certain information when you visit, including:
- IP address and approximate geographic location
- Browser type, device type, and operating system
- Pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring/exit pages

2. Google Services We Use
Trenzif uses Google’s Site Kit plugin to connect the following Google services to our WordPress site:
2.1 Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use Trenzif — which articles are read, how long visitors stay, and how they found us. Google Analytics collects data such as your IP address, device and browser information, and on-site behavior through cookies. This data is processed by Google on our behalf. You can learn more about how Google handles this data at Google’s Privacy & Terms, and you can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
2.2 Google Search Console
We use Google Search Console to monitor how Trenzif appears in Google Search results, including which search terms bring visitors to our site, our indexing status, and technical issues affecting our search visibility. Search Console primarily provides us with aggregated data about search performance and does not directly collect personal information from individual visitors browsing our site.
2.3 Google Site Kit
Site Kit is the WordPress plugin we use to connect and manage the above Google services from within our site. It does not independently collect additional visitor data beyond what Analytics and Search Console already collect as described above.
3. Comments and Gravatar
When you leave a comment, in addition to the data described in Section 1.1, an anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if you have one set up via Gravatar) may become publicly visible alongside your comment. We may also use automated moderation tools to help detect and filter spam comments, which process comment content and metadata such as IP address for that purpose.
4. Embedded Content From Other Websites
Articles on Trenzif may include embedded content (for example, videos, images, or social media posts) from other websites. Embedded content from another website behaves exactly as if you visited that website directly. These third-party sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
5. Social Sharing and Social Media
Trenzif provides share buttons that let you share articles to platforms such as Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Pinterest, and Reddit. These buttons link out to the respective platform and do not load tracking scripts from those platforms on our pages unless you click them. We also maintain profiles on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and WhatsApp Channels; if you interact with us on those platforms, your interaction is governed by that platform’s own privacy policy.
6. Advertising
Trenzif may display advertising, including through Google AdSense, to support the cost of running the site. Advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to Trenzif or other websites, and to measure ad performance. Comment data (and any associated metadata) is retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically, rather than holding them for moderation. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. If you left a comment on Trenzif, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you provided, or request that we erase any personal data we hold about you (this does not include any data we are obligated to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes).
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and to request deletion of that information. Trenzif does not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13.
10. Children’s Privacy
Trenzif is a general-audience news publication and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
