ARY CEO Turns Down Netflix Partnership, Calls for Pakistan’s Own OTT Platform

ARY Digital Network CEO Salman Iqbal has revealed that he turned down a partnership offer from Netflix, saying Pakistan should focus on building its own independent streaming platform instead of depending on international services.

Speaking about the decision, Salman Iqbal said Netflix had approached ARY Digital to license the network’s content. However, he chose not to move forward with the partnership, believing that Pakistani content should remain under local control and be promoted through platforms developed within the country.

He stressed the need for a strong “Made in Pakistan” OTT (Over-the-Top) platform that can showcase local stories, culture, and talent to audiences without relying on global streaming giants. According to him, investing in Pakistan’s own digital entertainment industry will help strengthen the country’s media sector in the long run.

Salman Iqbal also highlighted the importance of protecting Pakistani content, saying local creators deserve platforms that give proper value and visibility to their work. His remarks have sparked discussion on social media about the future of Pakistan’s streaming industry and the potential for a homegrown OTT service.
