The federal government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs5.58 and Rs4.18 per litre, respectively, with the revised rates taking effect from Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Following the latest increase, petrol will now cost Rs364.35 per litre, up from Rs358.77. The price of high-speed diesel has risen from Rs381.77 to Rs385.95 per litre.
The latest revision comes amid continued volatility in international oil markets. Pakistan has recently shifted to a daily fuel-pricing mechanism, allowing petroleum prices to be adjusted more frequently in response to global market movements and other cost factors.
The increase is expected to add further pressure on consumers, particularly transport operators and businesses that rely heavily on petrol and diesel. Higher fuel costs can also affect transportation and the prices of goods and services.
