Trump Lists Key Achievements as US Midterm Elections Approach

US President Donald Trump has presented a list of what he describes as his major achievements as the November 2026 midterm elections approach. In a post on Truth Social, Trump highlighted his administration’s policies on immigration, the economy, national security, energy and other areas, presenting them as key results of his second term. 

On immigration, Trump claimed that his administration had achieved what he called the “most secure border in history” and said refugee admissions had been sharply reduced. While his administration has significantly reduced refugee admissions, US government data analysed by the Pew Research Center show that 10,258 refugees had been admitted during fiscal year 2026 through July 31. The administration had set an annual ceiling of 17,500 refugees.

Trump also highlighted his administration’s decision to make English the official language of the United States. An executive order issued on March 1, 2025, designated English as the country’s official language, according to the US government.

His list also included tax cuts, tariffs, manufacturing, energy production, crime reduction and military policies. The White House has separately promoted similar claims, including increased domestic energy production, lower crime figures and major investments in the US economy. These figures and descriptions represent the administration’s account of its record.

The list comes as the Republican Party faces a closely watched midterm election in November. A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted in September found President Trump’s approval rating at 35%, while 44% of respondents preferred Democrats and 37% Republicans on the generic congressional ballot. The poll also reported concerns among voters about the economic effects of the Iran conflict and higher fuel prices.

The November elections will determine control of both chambers of Congress. The results could affect the administration’s ability to advance legislation and implement its policy agenda during the remaining years of Trump’s second presidential term.
