Mir Raza Ali Case: Police Form New Team, Add Murder Charges to FIR

The investigation into the death of 25-year-old businessman Mir Raza Ali has taken a new turn, with authorities reconstituting the police team handling the case and adding a murder charge to the FIR registered on his father’s complaint.

Ali’s body was found in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar area last month, one day after he went missing on July 28. His family has maintained that he was kidnapped, tortured and killed, rejecting the earlier possibility that he may have died by suicide.

Police had previously been investigating the case with a focus on the possibility of suicide. However, the latest developments indicate a change in the direction of the investigation after the murder charge was formally included in the case.

According to an order issued by the office of the Sindh Inspector General of Police on Sunday, the investigation team has been reconstituted to probe the circumstances surrounding Ali’s death. The order also confirmed that the murder section has now been added to the first information report.

The development comes as Ali’s family continues to seek answers over his disappearance and death. The newly formed investigation team is expected to examine the evidence and circumstances surrounding the case to determine how the businessman died and whether anyone was involved in his death.
