Trump Demands Compensation From Iran for Deaths and Injuries

US President Donald Trump has demanded that Iran pay “compensation” for people he says were killed or seriously injured in conflicts involving Iranian roadside bombs and other attacks.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he had instructed US representatives to raise the issue in any future negotiations with Iran. His comments came after he said Iranian representatives had sought compensation for damage suffered by Iran over the past five months.

Trump said Iran’s demand had not previously been part of the negotiations, but described it as an “interesting idea” and said the United States would now make a similar demand.

The US president also called for compensation to be paid to the families of what he described as hundreds of thousands of innocent protesters killed by Iran over the past five decades. He also referred to 52,000 people whom he said had been killed in recent months.

Trump said the demand would be firmly placed on the agenda of “any, and all” future negotiations between the United States and Iran. The comments are expected to add another major issue to already difficult discussions between the two countries.
