Trump Holds Iran Responsible for Damage and Death Across Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Gaza

US President Donald Trump has expanded his demand for compensation from Iran, saying Tehran should also be held responsible for deaths and damage linked to conflicts in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Gaza.

Trump’s latest remarks came after Iran called for compensation for damage caused during the conflict. In response, Trump said Iran should also face demands for payments over people he says were killed or seriously injured in conflicts and attacks involving Iranian forces or Iran-backed groups.

The new demand comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high and efforts to reach an agreement over the Strait of Hormuz face fresh difficulties. Trump’s position could make already fragile negotiations more complicated.

The US president has also referred to casualties involving American forces and other victims in the region. His comments have increased pressure on Iran at a time when both sides are putting forward competing demands as part of efforts to resolve the wider conflict.
