Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh has expressed his deep admiration for legendary Pakistani qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan after his landmark performance at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Following the concert, Diljit spoke humbly about performing one of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s iconic qawwalis. He said he did not consider himself a big enough singer to do complete justice to Nusrat’s music, explaining that he chose to perform the legendary singer’s work purely because of his deep love and respect for him.
Diljit also apologised for any mistakes he may have made while performing the qawwali. He acknowledged that Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s melodies are extremely challenging and require exceptional vocal skill.
His comments highlighted the immense influence Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan continues to have on singers and music lovers around the world. Diljit’s tribute at Wembley also introduced the legendary Pakistani maestro’s timeless music to a massive international audience.
The Wembley concert marked another major milestone in Diljit’s career, with nearly 100,000 people attending the landmark performance.
