RAWALPINDI: A woman, Hina Javed, was found dead at her marital home in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area, with police treating the case as murder. Her husband, Faisal Asghar Imam, and a domestic worker, Zeeshan Arshad, have been taken into custody for questioning.
According to the police complaint filed by Hina’s brother, Fahad Javed Malik, the family was alerted after Hina’s father-in-law contacted him about an emergency at the apartment. When Fahad and relatives reached the residence, Hina was found dead inside the bathroom. Her hands were allegedly tied behind her back, her mouth was gagged and a wire was found around her neck.
Hina had married Faisal Asghar Imam in November 2025. Her family has alleged that she had experienced domestic abuse during the marriage and has accused her husband, the domestic worker and her father-in-law, Asghar Ali Fayyaz, of involvement in the incident. The allegations against the family members remain subject to investigation.
Police have registered a murder case under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code and collected evidence from the apartment. Investigators are also awaiting forensic and post-mortem findings as they work to establish exactly what happened and determine the role of each suspect.
The case has triggered widespread outrage on social media, with members of the public and activists calling for justice for Hina and stronger action against violence against women. Her family has also demanded a transparent investigation and accountability for anyone found responsible.
Police have not yet established guilt against the arrested suspects. They remain presumed innocent unless and until their guilt is proven in court.
