A hotel owner and several employees were allegedly assaulted by police during an anti-encroachment operation in the Samanabad area of Karachi, near Shafiq Mor, according to reports.
The incident reportedly took place when an anti-encroachment team arrived in the area to remove structures considered illegal. Police personnel were accompanying the team during the operation, which involved action against shops and hotels in the vicinity.
According to the allegations, the hotel owner and his employees were subjected to physical assault during the operation. The incident has raised concerns over the conduct of law-enforcement personnel during anti-encroachment drives. However, the allegations have not been independently verified, and the police version of the incident has not been confirmed in the available reports.
Shafiq Mor and surrounding areas have previously been the site of anti-encroachment operations, with authorities removing shops and other structures from public or government land. Police have also been deployed during such operations to maintain law and order and deal with resistance.
Further details about any injuries, arrests or legal action arising from the latest incident were not immediately available. Authorities are expected to investigate the allegations and determine whether any police personnel violated established procedures during the operation.
