PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh and other party leaders met with Mir Hussain Ali, the father of 25-year-old businessman Mir Raza Ali, who was found dead in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar last month.
Following the meeting, Sheikh shared a video on social media showing him consoling the victim’s father. During the meeting, Mir Hussain showed Sheikh a video clip that he claimed contained footage of his son being tortured before his death.
In the video, Mir Hussain said that a man had given him the recording and told him that his son had been severely beaten. He said the video was currently in his possession and that, as far as he knew, no one else had the recording.
The development comes as the investigation into Mir Raza Ali’s death takes a new direction. Police have reconstituted the investigation team and added a murder charge to the FIR registered on his father’s complaint.
Ali’s family has consistently maintained that he was kidnapped, tortured and murdered. Police had earlier considered the possibility of suicide, but the addition of the murder charge and the emergence of the alleged video have added new questions to the case. Further investigation is underway to establish the facts surrounding his disappearance and death.
