ISLAMABAD, August 24, 2026: The Pakistan Army has taken notice of a firing incident reported at the Islamabad campus of Sarhad University on Monday and has initiated an inquiry into the matter.
According to reports, the incident involved the discharge of a weapon at the university campus. The military officer allegedly involved in the incident has been taken into custody under the Pakistan Army’s code of conduct, while disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated.
The Pakistan Army said it follows a strict system of self-accountability and that violations of military laws and regulations are dealt with through the established legal and disciplinary process.
The Army further stated that its accountability mechanism is based on facts and concrete evidence rather than allegations and is applied without discrimination.
The relevant authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident. The Army said that anyone found responsible after the inquiry will face the appropriate legal and disciplinary process in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
