Pakistan’s men’s volleyball team delivered a commanding performance against India to secure a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 Asian Games. Pakistan defeated India 3-0 in the quarter-final at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium in Japan, winning all three sets in straight fashion.

Pakistan started strongly and took the opening set 25-19 in 23 minutes. India fought harder in the second set, but Pakistan remained composed in the closing stages to win it 25-23. The Pakistani side then maintained its momentum in the third set and sealed the match 25-18, completing the victory in around 80 minutes.

Murad Khan was Pakistan’s leading scorer, producing l22 points, including 21 through successful spikes and one from service. Usman Faryad Ali added nine points, while Mohammad Hamad and Musawir Khan contributed eight and seven points respectively.

Pakistan also dominated the attacking battle, recording 50 successful spikes from 83 attempts, compared with India’s 33 successful spikes from 81 attempts. The team also finished ahead in blocks, with six successful blocks against India’s four.

The victory came after Pakistan finished second in Pool A. The team began its campaign with a 3-1 win over Kazakhstan and followed it with a 3-0 victory against Uzbekistan before losing 3-0 to hosts Japan in the final pool match.

India had entered the quarter-final unbeaten after winning all three of its pool matches, including victories over Vietnam and Hong Kong and a five-set win against Qatar. Pakistan’s straight-sets victory therefore brought India’s campaign to an end and sent the Pakistani team into the last four.

The result also marked Pakistan’s second consecutive Asian Games victory over India in men’s volleyball, following their 3-0 win in the fifth-place match at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.
