The federal government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD), adding further pressure on consumers.
According to the latest notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs4.42 per litre, taking it to Rs380.24 per litre. The price of high-speed diesel has also gone up by Rs6.10 per litre and will now cost Rs409.42 per litre.
The revised prices will come into effect from September 15 (Tuesday).
The government is currently charging Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol, while taxes and duties on high-speed diesel stand at Rs100 per litre.
The increase will affect transportation and other sectors that rely heavily on petroleum products, potentially adding to the cost of goods and services.
