Yemen’s Houthi movement has claimed responsibility for a missile and drone attack targeting Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport, saying the operation was carried out in retaliation for a recent strike on Sanaa International Airport.
According to the Houthis, the attack was a direct response to the damage caused at Sanaa airport. The Yemeni government, however, stated that its own forces carried out the strike on the airport in the capital, while the Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of being responsible for the attack.
Following the latest escalation, the Houthis warned international airlines to avoid Saudi airspace, claiming that airports in the kingdom could become targets if military operations continue.
The exchange marks another rise in tensions in the region, raising concerns about aviation safety and the possibility of further attacks that could affect regional security and air travel.
