Pakistan has secured the overall first position at the Tent Pegging World Cup qualifying tournament in Oman, earning a place in the 2026 World Cup finals in Jordan in November. The three-day qualifier was held at the Royal Oman Police Equestrian Division’s Al Wattayah arena under the supervision of the International Tent Pegging Federation.
Six national teams Pakistan, Oman, Qatar, Iran, the United States and Uzbekistan competed for two available qualification spots. Pakistan topped the overall standings, while hosts Oman finished second and also qualified for the World Cup. Qatar placed third and advanced to a continental play-off.
Pakistan produced consistent results throughout the competition. On the first day, the Pakistani team won the team event, while Wajahat Ullah finished second in the individual competition. On the second day, Wajahat Ullah took first place individually, followed by M Sagheer in second and Nasir Abbas in third, with Pakistan again winning the team competition.
Pakistan continued its strong performance on the final day, with Tasawar Abbas taking first place in the individual competition. M Sagheer finished second and Nasir Abbas third, giving Pakistan all three positions on the individual podium for the final day. Pakistan also secured the top position in the team competition on the concluding day.
Tasawar Abbas also received recognition for his performances across the tournament. Pakistani reports said he won three gold medals in Ring and Peg, Lemon Cutting and Relay Single Line events and was named the tournament’s best player, earning the title “Golden Legend.” M Sagheer also won gold in the individual sword event and took silver in the overall individual competition.
The result secures Pakistan’s participation in the Tent Pegging World Cup in Jordan this November, where the national team will compete alongside the other qualified teams.
