Ayat Noor’s Mother Demands Justice for Her Daughter Outside District Court

The mother of five-year-old Ayat Noor, who was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered in Haripur, appeared outside the District Courts and called for justice for her daughter despite being unwell. Her emotional presence at the protest reflected the family’s pain and determination to see those responsible held accountable.

The protest was organised by young women social media activists, who gathered outside the court to demand justice for Ayat Noor and stronger protection for children. Participants urged the authorities to ensure that the suspects face due legal proceedings and receive punishment according to the law.

Ayat Noor had gone missing from Haripur earlier this month after leaving home to play. After an extensive search, her body was recovered from a well at a warehouse near University Road. Police have arrested suspects in connection with the case, while the investigation and legal proceedings are continuing.

The case has sparked widespread anger and grief across Haripur, with residents, civil society members and lawmakers demanding swift justice. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has also called for stronger measures and a fast-track judicial mechanism for cases involving sexual violence against children.

The protesters said Ayat Noor’s case should not be forgotten and called on the authorities to ensure accountability and improve measures to protect children from abduction, sexual violence and murder.
