Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that it was impossible to accurately predict how Iran would act regarding global trade through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking in an interview with US media, Netanyahu said Iran may have considered the possible consequences before taking action, but no one could predict with certainty how the situation would develop. He also described Iran as a serious threat to global peace.
Netanyahu argued that the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz could eventually be reduced if countries develop alternative routes for transporting energy. He suggested that energy infrastructure could be redirected through pipelines to the Red Sea and then onward to the Mediterranean, reducing dependence on the vital waterway.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy routes, with a significant share of global oil and gas supplies passing through it. Any prolonged disruption could have major consequences for international energy markets and global trade.
