25-Year-Old Wafflix Owner Mir Raza Ali Found Dead in Gulistan-e-Jauhar After Alleged Kidnapping

A 25-year-old Karachi businessman, who was allegedly kidnapped from PECHS Society, was found dead in bushes near a wedding hall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Wednesday. Police suspect the young man was tortured before being shot.

The victim was identified as Mir Raza Ali, son of Mir Hassan Ali, a resident of PECHS Block 2. He was the owner of the waffle dessert chain “Wafflix” near Bahadurabad Chowrangi. His body was recovered from bushes near Shadi Qila wedding hall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 1 and was later shifted to Jinnah Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

According to police, the body appeared to be one to two days old and had burn marks on some parts, which made identification difficult. Raza’s father reportedly identified him through his clothes. Police also found a mark on his back, while the exact cause of death will be confirmed through the post-mortem report.

Station House Officer Kamran Qureshi said initial findings indicated that the victim may have been tortured before being shot dead. Police are collecting CCTV footage from cameras installed around the wedding hall in an effort to identify and trace those allegedly involved in the kidnapping and murder.

A kidnapping case was registered at Ferozabad Police Station on Tuesday following a complaint filed by the victim’s father.

According to the FIR, Raza returned home from his shop in his car during the night between July 27 and 28. At around 4am, he told his mother that he was going outside for about 10 minutes. However, he did not return home.

When his mother later called his mobile phone, it was switched off. The family searched for him and contacted Madadgar 15 before approaching the police and registering a kidnapping case against unidentified suspects.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to determine the motive behind the alleged kidnapping and murder. Meanwhile, friends and acquaintances of the young entrepreneur expressed grief and offered condolences on social media, while many also raised concerns over the security situation in Karachi.
