Momina Iqbal Says Personal Matters Should Not Be Used to Justify Alleged Harassment

Actress Momina Iqbal has spoken about the ongoing controversy involving PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar, saying that matters considered “personal” should not be used to dismiss serious allegations of harassment or abuse.

In a recent statement, Iqbal drew a comparison with domestic violence, questioning the idea that certain incidents should be treated as private matters simply because they happen within personal relationships. She stressed that allegations involving threats, harassment or violence deserve proper attention and investigation.

The actress has previously accused Saqib Chadhar and others of cyber harassment, threats, blackmail and intimidation. The NCCIA registered a case following her complaint, while Chadhar has denied the allegations and maintained that the accusations against him are false.

The case has taken several turns in recent months. On September 3, a Lahore court disposed of the interim pre-arrest bail petitions of Chadhar and his wife after the investigating officer said their arrest was not required at that stage. The NCCIA has also ordered a fresh inquiry after new evidence emerged and issued fresh notices to both sides.

Iqbal has maintained that she will continue pursuing the matter through legal channels and has questioned how allegations against a public representative are being handled. The disputed allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings.
