PML-N Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar has taken to Instagram to claim that he has successfully won the case filed against him by actress Momina Iqbal and that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has ruled in his favour.
In a social media post, Chadhar said the investigation had resulted in a favourable decision for him and described the development as a victory in the case. His post comes amid ongoing legal proceedings over allegations of harassment and threats made by Momina.
The case was registered by the NCCIA in June after Iqbal accused Chadhar and his wife of cyber harassment, stalking, blackmail, intimidation and threats. Chadhar has denied the allegations and previously submitted his own statement to the agency.
The case has seen conflicting developments. In July, an NCCIA official told a Lahore sessions court that the investigation had found Chadhar guilty of the allegations. However, on September 3, a new investigating officer told the court that Chadhar and his wife did not need to be arrested at this stage, following which their interim pre-arrest bail petitions were withdrawn and disposed of.
The NCCIA has now issued fresh notices to both Iqbal and Chadhar after new digital evidence emerged and has formed a special investigation team to examine the matter further. Therefore, Chadhar’s social media statement should be understood as his claim about the latest development, while the investigation into the case remains ongoing.
